General Practitioner - HMP Wormwood Scrubs
Are you looking to work within a service that offers and promotes outstanding care to its service users?
If the answer is yes, then we are looking to recruit flexible, enthusiastic individuals to work in our prison healthcare service at HMP Wormwood Scrubs.
HMP Wormwood Scrubs is a Victorian-built, Category B prison which can hold up to 1279 adult males in Hammersmith, London.
At Care UK, we have great flexible career options available which include:
• Salaried GP job opportunities
• Part-time to 5 day working available
• Flexible - choose term time working, early/late sessions and/or weekend sessions
• Self Employed roles considered - dependent on experience
About the Job
As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, the General Practitioner will provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management. You will also provide a highly specialist resource to other healthcare staff, patients and carers and have active involvement in clinical governance/effectiveness activities.
It doesn’t end there; you will have a chance to become actively involved in audit, teaching and training (management of substance misuse and/or blood borne viruses) as well as helping us to adapt the service to the ever-changing needs of the patients.
This role will be sessional work, working on a Saturday from 9am – 10pm as well as a long day during the week (Monday – Wednesday)
You will be a qualified GP (with GMC and performers list registration) and have a real passion for building on your medical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!

Care UK is the Health in Justice market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country.
Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/well being factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.
