Medical Director of Suffolk GP Federation’s Practices

Felixstowe, Haverhill, Lowestoft and home working

The GP Practice Medical Director will play a key leadership role working with our Primary Care team to develop and implement the Fed’s strategy and ensuring our practices provide safe and appropriate care. 

About the Role:

  • The post combines clinical managerial responsibility with a clinical role in practices.
  • The individual will be a member of the Executive Team which has responsibility for managing the Fed’s wider portfolio of services.
  • 6 to 8 sessions per week
  • £16,250 per session + indemnity & NHS Pension
  • 6 weeks holiday allowance + 1 week study leave
  • Career development.

About the Federation:

Suffolk Federation manages 3 surgeries covering nearly 30,000 patients. 

The Federation’s strategy includes:

  • Implementing a ‘salaried GP model’ but with each practice being clinically led by a GP clinical lead.  
  • Involving staff and patients through a Practice Board.
  • Introducing ‘new models of care’ including collaborative working with neighbours, Care Navigation, skills mix (ECPs, pharmacists, physio, PAs etc), On the Day Team (OTD) and encouraging self-management.
  • The Federation providing governance and other support centrally.
