Timaru sits about midway between Christchurch & Dunedin and is the second largest city in Canterbury. The region is one of the only places in the world where, within two hours of an international airport you can ski at a world class alpine resort, play golf, bungy jump, go rafting, mountain biking, wind surfing, whale watching and visit world-class vineyards and gardens. Caroline Bay has a safe swimming beach, botanic gardens, a landscaped piazza and wonderful walks.
If you’re thirsty, why not consider a tour of the local brewery. With a collection of restaurants and cafés that links the beach to the main shopping area, Timaru has plenty to offer everyone.
New Zealand is becoming more and more a location of choice for those who previously considered Australia as the most desirable location down under. Its rapid growth compared to other developed countries has recently been referred to as a “rock star economy” and it was voted the best place in world to raise a family by the 2014 HSBC Expat Explorer Survey, with the report describing it as “an ideal destination to raise active, outdoorsy and healthy children.”

What Head Medical can do for you
Arranging a position overseas is very exciting, but we know it can also be a complex and time-consuming process. We’re specialists in international medical recruitment and have helped many doctors relocate since we first started out in 2008 (you can read what people have said about working with us on our testimonials page). We know it’s important to balance career opportunities with lifestyle, so we’ll talk through your plans and get to know you to make sure we find the right role in the right location.
Once we have secured a job for you, we’ll manage the medical registration and visa application processes, and support you (and any family members) with the relocation itself.
