Enjoy the freedom to practice as you’ve trained to, to live in uncrowded places with excellent schooling and lifestyle opportunities. Full support for making the move.

  • Quality general practice with more freedom
  • Competitive remuneration, relocation available if you stay long term
  • 7 – 8 /10 working week in a supportive, collegial environment

Helping people be their best, keeping them safe and healthy, happy and well-versed – that’s what it’s all about, right? We’re guessing it’s likely to be the reason you became a GP in the first place. If you feel you’re getting bogged down in the detail, why not have a look at what working in New Zealand can offer.

With New Zealand’s unique funding model, we still meet high quality standards. Local clinical governance groups are clinician led, and CME is maintained locally and at national conferences.

The Doctors Hastings

The Doctors Hastings is nine doctor family and accident and medical centre in beautiful Hawkes Bay, on New Zealand’s east coast. For 25 years, we’ve been providing excellent care to the Hastings community. We sit under the Green Cross Health umbrella, which means that we’re backed by one of New Zealand’s leading healthcare companies. We’re a skilled, supportive and diverse team of 9 GPs and we’re looking for two more GPs to join us. If you are UK trained and like the idea of moving to this great little country of ours, and you’re great at what you do, we’d love to hear from you.

The collegiality and relaxed atmosphere is sure to appeal to you. Our people are amazing and go out of their way to make sure their colleagues are happy and supported. And then there’s the clinic times – we do 15 minute sessions here, which means less stress for you and your patients. You’ll also be pleased to know that, through us, the registration process is reasonably painless and here in Hastings, you’ll experience the laidback Kiwi lifestyle at its best, read: stunning weather, affordable housing, excellent schools, and the great outdoors right on your doorstep.

The practice allows for individual development and encourages individuals to improve and diversify their practice. Doctors are exposed to accident and acute cases as well as seeing regular general practice and chronic care patients.

Nurse led clinics attend to screening and the needs of patients with long term conditions, and onsite services include pharmacy, radiology, midwives and physiotherapy.

Hawkes Bay - our stunning region

Living is easy in Hawke’s Bay. Access to local fresh produce and housing that is still very affordable help to keep the cost of living down. A full range of social infrastructure is also present including private and public health services, education at all levels including several excellent private schools and a tertiary institute.

Sporting facilities and the opportunity to play sport and enjoy the outdoors (parks, forests, lakes and beaches) are all readily accessible.

Hastings has a Mediterranean climate, with over 2200 sunshine hours annually and an average rainfall of less than 800 mm (31.5 in). It is one of the country's warmest annually and the hottest place in summer with New Zealand's highest January maximum average of 26°C (79°F).

Bordered in the east by a beautiful coastline and to the west by rugged mountain ranges, the Hawkes Bay region offers diverse recreational opportunities. Stunning natural assets include beaches, Te Urewera National Park and Lake Waikaremoana, as well as one of the world’s largest mainland gannet colonies at Cape Kidnappers.

Road, trail and mountain biking, kayaking, sailing, surfing are popular activities. Family activities include swim centre, the National Aquarium of New Zealand, and tasting local produce at the weekly Farmers’ Markets. Sample the excellent local wines, food and art on trails that meander through the hinterland.

We help with all the administrative details including NZ registration.
