Prison GP - £100 per hour, Nationwide Coverage, Flexible options available.
Break into Prison Healthcare! Are you looking to work within a service that offers and promotes outstanding care to its service users?
If the answer is yes, then we are looking to recruit flexible GP's, enthusiastic individuals to work in our prison healthcare service nationally.
We have been supporting and encouraging GP's to work in Prisons as its not as daunting as one thinks. We are looking Self employed or locum GP's wanting to work in Prisons long term or short term as we have plenty of sessions nationally.
GP’s however must hold the RCGP Part 1 or 2 certificate in substance misuse to be able to work at Prisons, We can give you access to the courses if you do not have the certificate.
Hours Vary and are flexible, generally from 09:00 to 21:00, you could more or less have a combination that works for you and your work life balance.
A Locum GP without prison experience would also be welcome, many prisons operate regular GP Surgeries for the prison population separate from substance misuse clinics. An Informal meeting can be arranged if you wish to learn more of the services you are required to conduct within the prison. All GP's are required to visit the prison for security checks before the session(s) can start.
About the job:
As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, the General Practitioner will provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management. You will also provide a highly specialist resource to other healthcare staff, patients and carers and have active involvement in clinical governance/effectiveness activities.
It doesn’t end there; you will have a chance if you want to become actively involved in audit, teaching and training (management of substance misuse and/or blood borne viruses) as well as helping us to adapt the service to the ever-changing needs of the patients.
The Job Requirements
You will be a qualified GP (with GMC and performers list registration) and have a real passion for building on your medical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!
