HMP Norwich is a Category B prison, it is conveniently located just outside Norwich and has easy access points for public transport.

About The Job  

The post holder will provide clinical input to offenders and support to junior colleagues. The post holders will work within the team of multidisciplinary staff to assist & support senior staff to deliver a nurse-led integrated primary care services and develop a specialist practice-based clinical model within the prisons.

Services include primary care support to Reception, First Night Centres, long-term conditions management and enhanced diagnostic, assessment and treatment as part of the integrated service, as well as providing a range of quality services and interventions within a larger multi-disciplinary team.

The successful candidate will be qualified and experienced practitioners (although newly qualified nurses can be supported within this team) The Band 5 nurse positions will be a first point of contact within healthcare and a source of advice to primary care colleagues within our multi-disciplinary team, prison staff, & offenders.

With excellent communication skills and a confident, competent presentation you will be responsible for ensuring excellent physical health care & well-being of offenders in the prison.

We are also looking for:-

 

  • Experience of working within secure & prison settings (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of current issues/agendas facing prison/offender healthcare
  • Experience of multi-professional collaboration including working in partnership with other statutory and voluntary organizations.

In addition to the above, experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team is essential. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

About You  

You will be at least a first level Registered Nurse looking to develop your current skills in a unique and ever changing environment. You will have a passion for learning and development, as well as having the initiative to bring new ideas and opinions on how to improve the healthcare services. You will be committed to being part of a high functioning and healthy team dynamic and ready for the challenge.

Prison Healthcare experience is not essential, however experience in primary care is desirable. The Healthcare Team are confident in both the working environment and the quality of the work undertaken and would welcome informal visits from interested candidates.
